I was so prepared to DNF because all of my DRs were not getting anything, and then I noticed this HTR at the last second. I had to write the rewrite as I was writing down the final solution and somehow I managed to squeak it out with 2 seconds left... turns out it's optimal after B2 R2 U R'

L2 F2 L2 F2 D2 L2 U2 L2 U2* // finish in 21
* = L2 U2 L2 U2 L2 U2 // notice that this gives 6-5, leave U2 D2
also notice that you can insert again earlier

L D' L2 U ^ L2 F2 U2 D2 L ...
U2 L2 F2 U D F2 U' D' // 23 but slice to 19

skill issue not finding it directly but losing the 50/50 on the D' L2 U and having the L move the wrong way made it quite annoying

I also realized this weird quirk with this 3 move EO and was very confused for a bit:

(R' D' F) // EO
L D' L2 U F2 U2 D2 L // 11 4b2

so let's try this out on inverse:
(F2 U' F') // accidentally do the wrong 3 move EO but wait
(U' R') // 2 more moves to DR
(D) // HTR???

Apparently I'm dumb though and F' D R F2 U F U' R' F2 D' solves the cube, so the same HTR exists by just doing (R' D' F U L2 U)

funny scramble, 23 seems to be human optimal generally unless you want to do a 13 move DR or 6 move EO
This 22 I guess I was close to finding but I didn't bother checking the 13 to DR:

who would win, 4a1 4e in 11 or 2c5 in 11? apparently it's 2c5 and it's by 2 moves

Anyway, I had 2 separate 22s on this scramble, one from 4a1 4e and one from 2c5

U (F B2 U) // EO

(D' L2 U' L2 D2 R2 D B U B2 U' B2) // solved (23-1 = 22)

The 4a1 4e in 11 with 24 (unfindable) optimal: B' R' F2 D F D R2 D' R' U' R
L' B2 L2 U D L U D R L' U' D' F2 R2 (14)

I didn't approach this attempt very well as I spent way too much time looking at the 3 movers. It did result in this early in the attempt though:

F' L' B // EO
U L' (D' R2 U R' D2 R) // 11 4b2
D F2 D2 R2 L2 U B2 R2 B2 L2 D2 // 22, which is not even optimal for the DR lol

I found the 8 to 2c3 pretty late because of that so I just went all in. Found the 20 quite quickly and tried to get something better since it looked pretty crazy, but there doesn't seem to be anything there.

The only other sub 12 DR I had was this fun one with 3c6e RZP:

But I think optimal is +13 and requires 5qt lol

2 seperate 22s on this scramble
here is the cool one:

F (B' R' B') // EO
(D2 L2 D L U' L) // 10 4b2 4e
(L2 U2 R2 F2) // OBL
(F2 U' R2 U R2 F2 U' R2 D B2) // PBL (10-2)

Also had this 22:
F (L2 B' R B')
(U2 L2 R' U' R) // 10 2c3 2e
(D' B2 D) L2 U2 R2 F2 D
L2 U2 F2 R2

for some reason i didn't write the subset on F (B' R B') (L2 F2 D L U' L) 10 4b2 4e so I assumed it was bad didn't check it when it gives 21

And I definitely feel dumb for missing this for 20 when I checked these EOs:
F (mallard premove)
(L' B' R B) //eo (4/4)
(L) //rzp (1/5)

I spent a lot of the attempt on this to no avail:

I do feel a bit dumb for not finding the DR from (U' F2 L B2 D) because I didn't look at what (D') looked like, but it only gave 22 anyway so eh

The first variation of this DR i tried looked promising but not quite right so I spent a bit of time trying the others, and this appeared. It felt like every DR I had on this scramble was 4 or 5 qt which was annoying

there is also this which was kind of fun:

a variation of this DR has optimal 22 but it's kinda hard to find.

I did this scramble on a the nightstand in my extremely cold hotel room so honestly im fine with 23. Had some other things including this:

(F) R' D' F' R2 U' D F2 D' L // 10 2c4 with variations
but then there is this dumb 2 move extension:
R' D' F (F) //eo-fb (4/4)
D //rzp-fb (1/5)

B' (U F' B') // EO

now replace the DR line:

B' R2 U' B2 U F2 U' F2 U' (U F' B U2 L' F2 U2 L') // this looks a lot better
(B2) // 18 to fake double slice

I'm quite proud of this one

(R' D' L F) // EO
(U D R L) // JZP thing
F2 U2 F2 L // DR 12 4c3
now do the UDRL(UDRL) thing:

(R' D' L F) // EO
[F2 U2 F2 R U D] // 10 4c3 0e
(L' U2 B2 R' F2 R2 D2 R) // HTR (18)
[] = F2 D2 B2 L U' D F2 B2 L2// leave slice (21)

F2 D2 B2 L U' D F2 B2 [L2 R' D2 R2 F2 R B2 U2 L] F' L' D R
[] = L F2 L2 D2 R U2 F2 R // 20

I could have just realized that the EO was auto 8e8c and found this a much simpler way but nahhh

Missed the EO for the dumb 20 somehow, oops

U F' R D2 B' // EO
U (L) U' D' R2 U D' L // 11 4b2
U (F2 L2 U2 R2 D) // HTR (17)
(F2 R2 B2 L2 B2) // slice (22)
+2 of course, optimal off of DR

also can extend the DR for this other 22 to slice that obviously sucks:
U F' R D2 B' D U2 L2 U' D L' (L) // 12 4b2
R2 D L2 D // HTR (16)
L2 F B' R2 F' B' // 22 to slice and it sucks

Other DRs:
U F' R D2 B' U' (L B2 U2 L2 D' L2 D) // 13 4a1 4e
(B L) R U' L (B2 U) F2 B2 U' L2 U //12 4a1 2e
(R B) F' U' F D L B2 D' R' D R // 12 4b2 2e
Seems that 24 is optimal from my DRs, which is unfortunate but I guess it means I didn't miss anything there.

First I found L2 U R2 L2 D B2 U' L2 F2 D2 F2 L2 F2 for 22 and almost stopped looking miscounting it as 21 but I decided that stopping early on a 4a1 is probably not a good idea

I also never check 4 move EOs on 2 move EOs until a recent convo in the FMC discord so it's funny that this is my first attempt writing some xd

I had this early:
(R' F) (L F2 U') U L2 F2 R2 F2 D' // 11 4b2
(B2 R2 D2 R' U2 R') // HTR
(F2 L2 F2) // 20 to the one slice that doesn't work :(
gives 23 if you finish with (F2 B2 U2 F2 L2 B2 D2)

This was the second EO I checked so i kind of freaked out lol.
I found a 24 pretty much immediately but then I calmed myself down a bit and tried to find something that wasn't 4c4, but in the end I couldn't find much else so I just went all in. Luckily optimal wasn't too tricky to find

I didn't have a single sub 12 DR this attempt. Best I can find on Mallard is 22
