As I’ve been struggling with competing in FMC recently, I knew this was a good opportunity to get PR. Unfortunately, A1 and A2 were scheduled many hours apart, so I was fairly nervous for this attempt. This scramble ended up being the best of the three. There were lots of short DRs with good subsets, so I knew that I needed to spend more time than normal to get a result I would be happy with. I started finishing my DRs at around 25 minutes, and I found this 22 shortly after. Despite having a 13 move HTR, I felt that 22 could’ve been optimal (it was 21 opt). I moved on and found two other 22s from different DRs, but nothing better. I was not really pleased with this result, but I felt some comfort that I only needed 24 to beat 22.67. After checking the rest of the D + () EOs, I switched and found the base DR. D (D2 L2 B D), B F’ L’ F’ R // 4c4 (10) I figured there was a good extension due to the base DR having blocks and a bad subset, but I didn’t expect the DR to be that good. I found this 19 to slice at around 15 minutes, but it took over 10 minutes for me to actually solve it 💀. I submitted this solution around 30 minutes into the attempt.
