I tried:

(U) D2 F2 U L2 U2 B2 U//HTR

this case looked like one of those that could be made to work with some extension/2e2e insertion so let's try it this way:

D2 F2 U (U' L2 B2 U')//HTR

still not quite right for a short finish, let's just remove the part on normal:

(U' L2 B2 U' L2 [U2 R2 B2 U)//HTR in 19
(F2 D2] B2)//E slice (22)

[]->(D2 L2 F2 U B2 U2) (22)

Final: R F B2 U2 B2 U' F2 L2 D2 L2 U B2 L2 U R' D' L D' F2 U L' F'

this is the only optimal finish for this DR :)

classic 'bad scramble with a random 3 move eo' except there was actually something on the 3 mover this time.

I spent most of my time working on the above DR, its variation and this 9+3:

L U' L' B R
(F2 D2 F' D)//2c3 6e, it's 21 optimal but with 5q so whatever

other short DRs (bad)

I counted 6/6/8 then wrote down a ton of 5 move EOs only to discover that white front had 4 3 move EOs...

This was a panic solution that I made work in the last 5 minutes, I had a lot of mis-written EOs and RZPs that did not work on this attempt but when I found this DR I thought my attempt was saved.

This DR kind of sucked because the side away from the variation hell is kind of bad for linear HTRs, so I didn't have much to work with.

It's a bit tough to run this type of DR on nissy without blowing up my computer, but mallard lists a possible 22 from it that involves niss HTR so meh

I had many short DRs this attempt so I'm quite happy to have found a good solution out of the bunch.

I felt a bit annoyed when I saw a good scramble after ruining my mean with a bad attempt though

I recently encountered 0c0 + variations so I had a good idea of what to do:

I wrote various reductions to 4a1 4e on inverse such as (U), (L2 U), (B2 U), (U2 L2 U) and switched them one by one to find short HTRs by varying the DR

The first one I switched worked great:

(U') []->F2 D2 B'       R2 D//HTR in 13

R2 L2 B2 L2 U2 B2 U2 B2//21

Final: R2 U R U' B2 U' R2 F2 D2 B' R2 D R2 L2 B2 L2 U2 B2 U2 B2 U

Annoyingly, I missed a 20 by pure skill issue:

R2 U R
U' B2 U' R2 B2 U2 B'
(B2 U) U2 R2 U'//it's a 5 move leave slice from here but I misrecognised it and thought it was bad... ugh

This 20 is also optimal from EO.

Initially I found:

(F U' B R)
(U' F D' F D' F)//4c3 (10)
(L2 B2 U') B2 D R2 U'
B2 D2 F2 R2//21 to slice, +1 opt

I didn't have much other good DRs to look at so I decided to check this 10+4 that I had:

U D' B R'
D2 F' D2 F2 D B//2c4 (10)

I switched to inverse and this half blockbuilding/half HTR thing happened:

(F2 D)//reduce to 2c3
(R2 F2)//make a huge block
(U' B2)//reduce qt but wait I can see the rest now
(U' B2 D2 F2 U)//21

Final: U D' B R' D2 F' D2 F2 D B U' F2 D2 B2 U B2 U F2 R2 D' F2

Optimal after EO ๐Ÿ™‚

I was not expecting anything good from this scramble honestly but a lucky finish helps

After trying many HTR paths and getting nothing, at 45 mins I decided to play around with half blockbuilding/half HTR stuff again:

F D2//222 block?
Bโ€™ R2 U2 B R2 B2 R2 U2 B//HTR
U2 R2 U2//done (22)

Final: D L2 Fโ€™ Uโ€™ F2 R D2 L F D2 Bโ€™ R2 U2 B R2 B2 R2 U2 B U2 R2 U2

There are a few ways to get 21 from this DR but they are pretty much unfindable.

I had this 9+3 that I mistraced as 9+5(???), but the optimal was not sub-22 anyway
(Rโ€™ F2 Uโ€™ F)
F2 Dโ€™ R2 U L//4c3

Morishita Yuto got a 20, I believe it was from this:

(F Rโ€™ Uโ€™ Fโ€™)
R2 U2 R2 Uโ€™ L F2 L
(L2 F2 D R2 B2 Dโ€™)
(U2 R2 B2)//20

I did switch for this RZP but I thought the case looked bad and didnโ€™t try to solve it lol
